How to acquire license from client machine if Firewall is enabled on License Server machine

The VCollab applications will fail to acquire the license, if the license server is enabled with Windows Firewall. Unique ports should be assigned for lmgrd.exe and VE3D.exe on license server machine.

Follow the steps below on the License Server machine to allocate port for the daemons

  • Click Start | Control Panel | Windows Firewall

  • Click the Exceptions tab.

  • Click Add Port

  • Enter ‘lmgrd’ in the Name field. Enter a port number in the Port Number field.

  • Protocol should be set to TCP. Click OK.

  • Click Add Port… again in the Exceptions dialog box

  • Enter ‘VE3D’ in the Name field. Enter a port number in the Port Number field.

  • Protocol should be set to TCP. Click OK.

Note

  • The ports numbers for lmgrd.exe and VE3D.exe should be different

  • These ports should not be used by any other application

Follow the steps below to specify the port numbers in the license file

  • Open the VCollab license file with a text editor, for example, Notepad.

  • At the end of SERVER line, specify the port number as follows.

    • SERVER license_server 00219B385A69 2635

    • Note: This port number should be the same port number that is opened in the Firewall settings for VE3D.

  • Save the license file.
