This command helps user to export images and movies.

Export Options

  • Export | Image...

    This command saves current scene view as Image in the following formats.

    • Bitmap Image (*.bmp)

    • JPEG Image (*.jpg)

    • TIFF Image (*.tiff)

    • PNG Image (*.png)


  • Export | Image Region

    This command allows user to select a portion of scene to be exported into image. User can resize the highlighted viewer portion using mouse.

  • Export | ViewPoints...

    This option helps user to export

    • All viewpoints as images into a PPT(*.ppt) file.

    • All viewpoints in a vpt (*.vpt) file.

    • Filtered parts and results into a new cax (*.cax) file.

      • Parts or Geometry and Results available across all viewpoints will be saved into cax.

      • Other parts and results will not be saved.

  • Export | 'wCAx/3D HTML...'

    This option exports geometry with current scalar result and user selected viewpoints data into a wCAX / 3D HTML file format.

    wCAX is a compressed and filtered data for web. Visible parts and used results across all viewpoint(s) are exported into wCAX file.



File Path Output wCAX / 3D HTML file path.
Viewpoints Allows user to select following viewpoint export options,
  1. All Viewpaths
  2. Current Viewpath
  3. Current Viewpoint
  4. Current Display.
Thumbnail Stores thumbnail image for each viewpoint.
Password Enables password setup to wCAX file.
Save Saves wCAX / 3D HTML file.


  • Deletion of results will affect existing viewpoints. These affected viewpoints will be ignored while writing into wCAX / 3D HTML.

  • Animation state will be ignored in case of Current Display option.

  • In Current Display option, deselecting 'Thumbnail' option helps to reduce wCAX/HTML file size significantly .


  • Export | Capture Movie...

    This feature captures all frames between start recording and stop recording.

    It makes them into animated gif/avi file.

File Name Output movie file name.
Video Settings Allows user to control the speed.
Capture        Buttons to start and stop recording the movie.
Close Closes panel.
  • Export | Make Movie...

    This additional feature stitches a set of external images into a animated gif/avi file.

Input Input path for the folder that contains set of images..
Output File Output path and file name.
Frame Rate Number of frames per second. By default it is 24.
Create Creates the movie.




Before making movie, user is advised to make sure that the following constraints are met.

  • All images in the folder should be of same format.

  • The image folder should contain images for one dataset.

  • Filename of images should have two string parts,

    • One part is common name for all images

    • The other part should be of numerical index. This unique string plays the role of arranging the frames in a proper order.

    • This index part should be either first part or the last part of the file name.

How to export into image?

  • Click File | Export | Image, which pops up general file Save As dialog box as below.


  • Choose a file type.

  • Provide a file name and click Save.

How to create or capture movie?

  • Click File | Export | Capture Movie...

  • Provide file path and name to the movie in the popped up  Capture Movie dialog as below.

  • Click Record button to start capturing.

  • Do some actions on the model.

  • Click Stop button.

  • Wait for a message box to be appeared with a message as below.

  • Click OK to finish the process.

  • Below one is a sample movie created in VCollab Pro.

If output file type is of image, all frames will be saved as image files.


How to make a movie with set of external images?

  • Click File | Export | Make Movie..., which pops up Make movie panel as below.

  • Click input browse button.

  • Browse the folder that contains set of images.

  • Open that folder.

  • Make sure that folder name is displayed in Look in text box as below.

  • Click Select

  • Click output browse button.

  • Provide output file name.

  • Modify frame rate if necessary.

  • Click Create and expect a message box as below.

  • Click OK to finish the process.


How to export viewpoints to PPT?

  • Click File | Export | ViewPoints

  • It pops up save file browser dialog.

  • Select the file type as *.ppt.

  • Enter a file name.

  • Click Save, which pops up a dialog.

  • It asks for template.

  • Click Yes to provide a template.

  • Click No to continue without template.

  • Now all the viewpoint states are inserted as images into Power Point.

  • First slide is left as empty page for title of the presentation.

  • If a viewpoint contains CAE Animation state, animation will be captured as animated gif in the ppt file.

How to save viewpoints data into cax file?

  • Click File | Export | ViewPoints
  • Select file type as *.cax
  • Enter a file name.
  • Click Save.
  • Necessary geometry and results will be stored into the new CAX file.
How to export a portion of scene into an image?
  • Click 'File | Export | Image Region'
  • Viewer will be highlighted with a semi transparent editable window.
